SALT CREEK GRILLE :: A TRADITIONAL FIRST BIRTHDAY

October 08, 2014  •  Leave a Comment

Have I mentioned how much I love photographing Korean first birthdays? It is tradition that keeps our core strong. If you pay close attention, I sort of weep behind the lens -- just a little. You could feel and see how proud the Grandparents are. I was really close to my Grandmother and my kids are even closer to my mom, so that will always hold a special place in my heart.

Let's get real too though. The dols ("Doljanchi" AKA Korean 1st birthday) are typically held in an amazing venue and have beautiful details. Ava's dol had a "Back-to-School" vibe and mommy Jiwon nurtured all the succulents and hand painted the ceramics that held the blooms. AMAZING right?! And by the way, I'm still obsessing over Cathi Lee's cake.
